Mysteries of the Dead Side: Sacred Necromancer

ADD TO WISHLIST >

All death, all the time!

Pure necromancy. This new class epitomizes what it means to cast the spells of death.

  • Play as one of 6 types: the flesh-crafting chirurgeon, the pact-making exorcist, the energy-wielding journeyman of the pale path or of the vibrant path, the ghost-talking psychopomp, and the undead revenant
  • Expand your deathly focus by delving into other fields: animist, eater of the dead, self-experimenter, and thaumaturgist
  • Consult the handy--and TERRIFYING!--necromancy spell list
  • Add to your use of The Faerie Ring with the fully statted iconic exorcist Ren, daughter of Red Jack
  • And wrap it all up with a handful of feats (and even a simple template for Ren, the fox-blooded!)

DYING to play an oracle-like spellcaster that casts only necromancy spells and thinks always of the dead? Then, bring the doom with your own sacred necromancer.

Mysteries of the Dead Side is the culmination of Zombie Sky Press's very first Kickstarter campaign. It was only with the ideas and collaboration of its patrons that it has succeeded.

This is a high quality, full-color, web-optimized PDF from Zombie Sky Press with convenient links to d20PFSRD.com for common gaming terms. It uses the Open Game License and the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Compatibility License and is compatible with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and standard 3.5E fantasy RPGs.

This is probably an odd place to ask this but I wasn't sure where else to do it. This was published well before Occult Adventures, and thus psychic spells inclusion into the system. Given the seeming intention for Sacred Necromancers to have access to all necromancy spells available in the system, would you say it would be logical to extend their spell casting beyond the stated divine and arcane, to psychic as well?

Absolutely! The intent is that they would be the masters of all necromancy (and many psychic spells are already available to a wide spread of the "old" casting classes), so our sacred necromancers should absolutely gain access to necromancy psychic spells. Hope that helps! :)

I recently purchased this resource through another website and am excited to start playing this class later this week. However I did have one concern about the class - it seems to have a few "dead" (heh.) levels at 5, 8, 13 and 17, where it gains very little compared to its other levels (only increased spells per day/spells known, which happens every level). Was this by design? Or were there supposed to be additional whispers or some other feature gained at these levels?

That was by design. The class was largely balanced against the oracle which has similar dead levels.

I thought that might be the case. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly and the amazing work on this class - very excited to start! I also just picked up the Yamabushi publication, so I know what I'll be rolling afterward!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
