The Quick Preview isn't working for me. I see only grey space. The Full-size Preview works but takes a little while to download.

New playbooks are beautiful !

However they still contain some errors - like move "Unencumbered, Unharmed" in Druid playbook.

Is there any version of the book with a working index ? I have to manually go to a page when I need info, and that's a pain.

Do you mean an index (a list of terms on a page at the back), or bookmarks (a built-in list of key pages in the pdf which is often presented on the left side of the content)?

I often add bookmarks myself because it's so common for PDFs to lack quality bookmarks. (I haven't bought this one.)

I believe they mean a bookmark index for the pdf reader. So you can skip to the page you want.

Why is the file sooooo big?
Customer avatar

Because its multiple files, multiple times in multiple formats. the biggest file (the core book itself) is only 75 megs, not the 500+ megs listed... but you know this, since you bought it.

Anybody else have a problem with the character sheet .pdf where the first two pages are doubled? For clarification: Page one is the basic move sheet, page two is the special move sheet ... then page one is repeated (it's even listed as page one ... again... on every reader I've tried it with), and then page two again, before progressing to three onward as normal.

It screws up any attempts to print it, because sometimes when counting pages it will add the doubled pages (thus making page 5 actually page 7), and sometimes it won't (thus the one listed as page 5 will still be page 5), so printing 4-7 for example stands a better than even chance of getting the completely wrong pages printed out.

That's a bit of a carry-over from the way Apocalypse World did it. The idea was that if you printed the whole pdf, you'd have two sets of those rules for everyone to look at. So, not really a mistake per-say, but I can see where it can get frustrating if you only want one copy.

Anyone else have corrupted text on the color PDF? I've tried re-downloading, different PDF viewers, etc. with no luck. I've contacted DTRPG with no response.

Have you checked the program you use to view pdfs for updates? I had that problem in the past using Adobe Reader, but after updating to the newest version of it, the problem went away. Hope this helps.

Yes I've tried the latest versions of Acrobat Reader, Acrobat Pro and Preview. The text is corrupted in any program I try. It is also corrupted when I try to view in Dropbox or iBooks on an iPad (running iOS 7.1).

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
