Sure seems like a lot of ADB products, including this one, are permanently "on sale" -- i.e. not actually on sale at all -- or at least something pretty closely approximating that. Does the list of things that are "on sale" ever change?

They are on sale vs. their price in print.

They're not even offered here in print. But anyway, I don't think I've ever seen any other company here list "sales" that way. Normally, if the normal PDF price is $7.50 (which, let's face it, this is) and the normal print price is $9.95, they'll list

* PDF $7.50
* Print $9.95

Crossing out a price on the PDF and showing a lower "sale" price next to it is only done when the sale price is lower than the normal price of the particular thing being purchased, e.g. "PDF". The way ADB is doing it -- saying the PDF is "on sale" permanently, because its normal price is lower than the print price -- seems misleading at best.

Robert, the way that OneBookShelf does pricing is that you list the original price of the item. Then you list what you are selling it for on this site. We continue to sell items in print on our own website. I don't want folks thinking they will get the item for the PDF price. We haven't had any other complaints, so rather than repricing the hundreds of items we have here, we'll continue to work toward getting additional items on this site.

Well, what can I say. I've purchased a lot of things from a lot of companies through this site, and yours is the one and only that stands out to me in this way. As I said, it comes off as misleading at best (to me, at least).

And your explanation doesn't really change my opinion; it reads like "We're selling this product here for $7.50 permanently. But since you can theoretically buy a similar but *different* product *elsewhere* for $9.95, we're going to say we normally sell *this* product *here* for $9.95, and that it's *on sale* here for $7.50. Hey everybody, 25% off! Despite the fact that we never sell *this* product for anything *but* the current price."

But you do you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
