i would give it a 4.5/5 stars if i was able to. But this product is what one would call a drug sample. In the way they give you some for free so you keep coming back for more.

I usually DM my family-party (partner and two kids) very much on the fly, so it was great to find this straightforward side-quest to just slot right into our bigger campaign. I used a hook that they met a hunter who was tracking a wild boar and it lead them to the tomb. We really enjoyed the simple traps and especially gathering the spoils! Thank you!

Really loved doing this adventure with mostly new players! They had a blast and it was easy to add in content that fit it to the world we were playing in. Couldn't recomend this more! (also loved the printable maps they were so helpful!)

This is a good little package, with attractive maps, traps and tomb. While it is short, it'd be easy to build on its framework, adding more detail to suit one's own campaign. I think it's probably one of the most useful freebies I've gotten, so thank you, R&D Adventures. It certainly makes me curious about their other products.

A small location, great for dropping into just about any campaign.

I used this mini dungeon to practice DMing for the first time. I've been a player for a while, but never went 'behind the screen' before. I absolutely loved it! It was easy to understand and follow, gave me a good mental image (from the cover picture, maps and description) that I could describe to the players, and had very clear instructions, loot, and encounter information to work with, as well as flexibility for working with different levels (between 1 and 5). It is, of course, only a little delve, but it was a great chance to insert an interesting encounter en route to somewhere else, and I simply added an item to one of the chests to create a plot-hook to go forward with.

Despite my imperfect first try as a DM, my players enjoyed it and found it well balanced - my usual DM even asked me where he could get a copy!

Adventure Shorts, Volume 3 (5e)
by Robert N. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/23/2017 16:28:03

All of the Adventure Shorts volumes from R&D Adventures are well written and conceived. They also come with excellent maps. For this volume, I modified the Carpath Brothers adventure short for my 5E campaign. Adding a little more to what was written provided a solid 3-4 hour side adventure for a smaller group of my players.

I picked up both versions of the "Forgotten Tomb." My only complaint was that I could not get a decent 200% print out using my Adobe Reader. I would recommend including a full one-inch grid printable for us poorer GMs. Other than that, a great scenario for training new players of any system. PS, I'm a Rolemaster GM and this was easily convertible from DnD.

Alchemy Shop is going right into the homemade town the adventuring party is currently based in. Detour has some real potential. The others I'll try to wiggle in. Just wanted to say, another great set of Shorts!

Perfect for my needs of filling a sandbox: Wonderful presentation, succint descriptions, clear and to the point.

Bear in mind this is a small, couple page product. If you're looking for something more filled out this may not be for your tastes.

A beautiful presentation, but this item is a little too small and had too little information to be helpful for me.

Adventure Shorts, Volume 1, Original (5e)

This is a great collection of tiny adventures that can easily be substituted into your games in-place of a random wilderness encounter.

They definitely add more flavour to the table than a standard "your camp is attacked by 4 kobolds in the middle of the night" or "You come across a graveyard with 2 skeletons".

As written, they're only for level 1 characters, but the monsters contained in each adventure can easily be scaled up for pretty much any party level without losing the flavour of the adventure.

  • Kobolds become Goblins, Hobgoblins, or Orcs.
  • Skeletons become Ghouls, Ghosts, or Zombies.
  • A Half-Ogre becomes a full Orge, Hill Giant, or Troll.

I will be buying more of these to keep printed out in my binder for when I need quick random encounters that don't suck and don't take much thought on my part to pull together.

Forgotten Tomb (5e)

I am giving the highest score to this adventure since it fulfills what it offers: an introductory adventure to be played in a single session. I tried it with my gaming group composed with new and veterans, this is the second adventure with which we are starting our all-new campaign and the story plays quite well. The adventure introduces the PC to one of the most recurrent aspects of D&D: the traps, and it does quiet well. I loved the fact the product comes with two maps, one inteded to players and other intended to the Dungeon Master with the location of traps, monsters and other features.

It's nice encounter for an hour or so, it properly introduces combat and traps to beginers but it could maybe use some minor social/diplomatic event and/or a travel sequence so that new players get an idea of how to do other things outside of dungeons.
