GM Mastery: NPC Essentials
Publisher: RoleplayingTips.com

This product is far and away one of the best purchases I have made on RPGNOW. I have commented on a number of quality documents and supplements, but none compare to this with regard to value and usefulness.

I am, as many are, a very busy GM without the time to give as much thought to NPC generation as I would like. But, I do have the opportunity to sit and read a supplement like this for a few minutes at a time and digest what I've read as I drive to and from work.

"NPC Essentials" guides the reader through a number of different NPC creation methods and gives them a lot to think about! Well done.

I make it a policy to never give anything I review five stars, unless I believe that it is perfect. This document is perfect.

LIKED: I like all of it, but in particular, I like the opening chapters on NPC design most of all. They talk about important elements such as determining an NPC's power base and the details a GM should include to make them memorable. Additionally, the Chapter on Roleplaying NPC's goes into such wonderful depth - even going into a brief discussion on voice acting!

DISLIKED: There is nothing about this product I didn't like.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
RDP: A Touch of Evil, Vol. 3: Gnolls
Publisher: Gun Metal Games

I found this product to be a useful supplement for giving greater depth to Gnolls in my own D20 Campaign. It is written well, and has many elements that can simply be "dropped" into a campaign or game session - with a good deal of flexibility!

LIKED: I liked the expanded cultural information on Gnoll society and religion. The most unique element of "A Touch of Evil Vol. III: Gnolls" is the writers choice to give you multiple snapshots in time of the NPC templates. Opting to choose a particular NPC template as a younger Gnoll vs. a hardened Gnoll leader allows the GM greater flexibility to add to his/her campaign. Nice Work!

DISLIKED: This, like many of the multi-page supplements on RPGNOW is not especially easy to print. The publisher DOES supply the user with a "print" version, but I found that even the print version bogged down my office's high output Cannon IR3200 Postscript printer. As I have said in other reviews, this observation does not reflect negatively on the overall quality of this product.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
Advanced Race Codex: Gnomes (d20 3.5)
Publisher: Green Ronin
by Christopher S. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 05/04/2006 00:00:00

The Advanced Race Codex: Gnomes, is a well-written and top quality publication. The "Character Concepts" and "Variant Gnomes" section will give GM's the basis for much greater depth in their Gnomish NPC's. I recommend this purchase.

LIKED: I particularly like the prestige classes and the potential adventure that surrounds them.

DISLIKED: As with many of the documents published on RPGNOW, the digital document is perhaps too fancy. The extra bits of graphics, etc, make the document print slowly on even the most sophisticated printers. As someone who prefers to read documents offline, this can be frustrating. However, this comment does not take away from the overall quality of the publication.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
The Immortal: Vampires
Publisher: UKG Publishing
by Christopher S. [Verified Purchaser]

This is an excellent product! The broad look at the history of the Vampiric myths throughout the world gives a creative GM much to work with.

LIKED: I particularly like the "beastiary" chapter. It gives a GM a much greater variety of Vampires to use, going well beyond the typical D&D perceptions of the Vampire.

DISLIKED: Initially, the .pdf file producted by this company was corrupt and did not print. I have recently downloaded an updated version in which they have supposedly fixed the problem.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
